The Chapada Diamantina Parc is a beautiful region made of low range montains. On the static map on the left you may see the main roads or circuits. To see more details on each spot use the interactive Map of Chapada Diamantina above centered on Lencois.
You can reach Lencois, the main stopover if you decide to visit the Chapada Diamantina, by bus or by plane. The night bus leaving Salvador in the evening arrives very early in Lencois where you will be welcome and proposed various Pousadas.
On the interactive map you need to perform an important zoom in order to vizualize Lencois and its points of interest. Since the interactive map of Lencois is a schema and does not provide with enough accuracy the spots are located with the aim to guide you in the most efficient way.
Generalities on Chapada Diamantina and Lencois
Tourism in Lencois is ecologic and occurs throughout the year. The park has an area of 150000 hectares and includes following municipalities; Lencois, Palmeiras, Andarai, Mucugê and Ibicoara.
The main attractions of this park are the landscapes, hiking, caves, rivers and waterfalls and villages from the colonial era of the search for diamonds.
Depending on the locations, you can find more of one or the other, with some noticeable specificities;
- Climbing; Andari, Rio de Contas
- Caves (paleontological, prehistorical drawing, geological formations); Iraquara
- Colonial Architecture; Mucugê, Lencois, Rio de Contas
- Mountains; Palmeiras
